Seda Liquida
Lleida, Spain
Brewery Story
SEDA LÍQUIDA was founded in 2015 in the small mountain village of Tuixent, in the Catalan Pyrenees. Created by gastronome and inventor Antonio Campins, the brewery was born from a deep passion for Japanese culture, gastronomy and sake.
After learning traditional sake-making techniques directly from master brewers in Japan, Antonio brought this knowledge to the Pyrenees, creating sake in harmony with the local environment while remaining faithful to Japanese brewing traditions. Today, together with his wife Isabel Martínez, he produces a range of sake enjoyed in acclaimed restaurants and exported across five continents.
The name SEDA LÍQUIDA, meaning “Liquid Silk,” comes from Antonio Campins’ book Sake, la Seda Líquida, published in 2008.
Brewing Philosophy and Production
SEDA LÍQUIDA follows traditional Japanese brewing principles, carefully balancing the three essential elements of sake: rice, water and yeast.
The brewery uses Japanese sake-making techniques while adapting them to its unique location in the Pyrenees. The pure, low-mineral spring water comes from the melting snow of the surrounding mountains, providing an important foundation for the sake.
Production takes place at low temperatures, following the careful approach used by traditional Japanese breweries. At the same time, SEDA LÍQUIDA has developed its own methods and equipment for koji production, filtration, pasteurisation and cooling of the moromi. This combination of tradition and innovation allows the brewery to create sake with precision while minimising waste.
Style and Signature Expressions
SEDA LÍQUIDA creates sake that reflects both Japanese craftsmanship and the distinctive character of the Catalan Pyrenees.
Its range includes five different sake styles, from elegant and aromatic expressions made with premium Yamada Nishiki to approachable, versatile sake designed for everyday drinking. The brewery also produces Grand Cru, a lightly filtered nigori junmai with a rich, creamy character, and Sugoi, an easy-drinking style created to pair with a wide variety of foods and occasions.
Beyond sake, SEDA LÍQUIDA also produces Berumotto, a unique vermouth made by infusing sake with more than 30 herbs and a selection of spices, including botanicals associated with the traditional Trementinaires of the surrounding valleys.
Through its combination of Japanese tradition, Pyrenean water and a spirit of innovation, SEDA LÍQUIDA offers a distinctive expression of sake made outside Japan.
