Brewery Story

Eigashima Shuzo traces its roots back to the Edo period and was formally established as a company in 1888 in Akashi, Hyogo Prefecture.

Located in the historic Nishinada brewing region, the brewery has long benefited from excellent rice, abundant groundwater and an ideal climate for sake production. Seven traditional wooden storehouses built during the Meiji era remain in use today, preserving more than a century of brewing heritage.

While respecting its long history, Eigashima Shuzo continues to embrace innovation, combining traditional craftsmanship with new ideas to shape the future of Japanese drinks culture.

Brewing Philosophy and Production

Guided by the principle of "Sincerity", Eigashima Shuzo believes that great sake can only be achieved through the perfect harmony of rice, water and people.

Using premium Hyogo rice together with pure underground water from Eigashima, every stage of brewing is carefully managed by skilled craftsmen. Traditional techniques remain at the heart of production, supported by continuous research and modern technology to ensure consistent quality.

The brewery's philosophy is simple: there are no shortcuts to making exceptional sake.
