Hyogo

Located in western Japan, Hyogo Prefecture is blessed with diverse landscapes, abundant natural resources and a rich agricultural heritage. These conditions have helped make Hyogo one of Japan’s most important regions for sake production.

Hyogo is especially renowned for producing high-quality sake rice, including Yamada Nishiki, widely regarded as one of the finest varieties for sake brewing. The region is also home to Nada, one of Japan’s most famous sake-producing areas, where brewers have long benefited from the pure water of the Rokko Mountains and a climate well suited to fermentation and aging.

With a long history of sake brewing and a deep connection to local agriculture and nature, Hyogo continues to produce a wide range of distinctive sake, from crisp and refined styles to rich and full-bodied expressions. Its combination of exceptional rice, pure water and generations of brewing expertise makes Hyogo a true representative of Japan’s sake culture.
