Oita
Located on the eastern coast of Kyushu, Oita Prefecture is blessed with abundant natural resources, including lush mountains, fertile farmland and pure water. The region is also famous for its rich hot spring culture, with destinations such as Beppu and Yufuin attracting visitors from across Japan.
These natural surroundings have also supported a long-standing tradition of sake brewing. Oita’s clean water and locally grown rice provide an ideal foundation for producing sake with delicate aromas, a smooth character and a clean, refreshing finish. While the region is perhaps better known for its barley shochu, sake remains an important part of its local food and drink culture.
Oita is also home to kabosu, a fragrant citrus fruit with a bright, refreshing acidity that is often enjoyed with local dishes and drinks. With its abundant nature, renowned hot springs and distinctive local flavors, Oita continues to offer a unique expression of Japan’s diverse sake and food culture.
